MECHANICAL DIE PROTECTION SENSORS
The buckling detector is a mechanical sensor which detects material buckling in either vertical direction (up/down). The sensor is positioned at a location where the material enters the die. As the material is fed forward by the feeding system and a material fed jam occurs the material will buckle either up or down. When this occurs the upper or lower springs make contact with the material and a signal is sent to the die protection unit to stop the press. |
SHORT FEED DETECTOR: The short feed detector is a mechanical sensor which is positioned at the end of the die. Each time the material is fed forward the material makes contact with the short feed sensor. This contact signals the die protection system indicating that the material has progressed and is in position. If the material does not progress completely the sensor will not make contact with the material. Under this condition the die protection system receives no signal and stops the press. |
SPRING TIP PROBE: The spring tip probe is a general mechanical sensor. It is an isolated spring sensor that can be positioned to make contact with the material to signal positioning, part-ejection and transfer. When the spring makes contact with the material or part a signal is sent to the die protection system to confirm movement or positioning. Note: If the sensor is to be used as a part ejection detector the part must be touching press ground at the same time the sensor makes contact.
